STEWART B. SHEDDON

Stewart SheddonStewart Sheddon was educated at Girvan Academy and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Edinburgh University in 1973 and thereafter took up an apprenticeship in Edinburgh with Drummond & Co (now Drummond Miller), one of the leading reparation practices in Scotland. Stewart divides his time between our Newton Stewart and Girvan offices.

With 30 years’ experience of legal practice in Scotland, Stewart’s main areas of business are agricultural law, domestic and commercial conveyancing, commercial leasing and business, company start ups, wills and trust administration, tax planning and charities. Stewart divides his time between our Newton Stewart and Girvan offices. Stewart is currently the Ayr Faculty representative on the Council of the Law Society of Scotland.

VERONICA C. LOVE

Veronica Love - PartnerVeronica Cieslik Love was born in York, the sixth of seven children of her Polish and Welsh parents. She was educated at Our Lady’s Primary School and the Bar Convent, York and graduated in History Honours at Manchester University in 1975. She obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Archive Administration from Liverpool University in 1977, and had a first brief career in County Archives in North Yorkshire before having a family and moving to South West Scotland in the 1980s, when she retrained as a Scottish Solicitor qualifying in 1992. Veronica works with private clients, mainly in domestic conveyancing, wills, trusts and executries, including some general and family law. Veronia is based in our Newton Stewart office.

SHIRLEY C. McNEILL

Shirley C. McNeillShirley was educated at Belmont Primary School in Stranraer and Stranraer Academy before attending Strathclyde University where she graduated with a Joint Honours degree in Law and French.  This degree incorporated a year at Toulouse University in the south of France where she studied law taught wholly using the French language.

Shirley obtained her Diploma in Legal Practice from the Glasgow Graduate School of Law and started as a Trainee Solicitor with our Newton Stewart office in 2005.  Now based at our Girvan office, Shirley became an Assistant Solicitor in 2007 and was appointed an Associate in 2009. Shirley deals mainly with private client matters such as domestic and commercial conveyancing, wills and Trusts.

PRACTICE MANAGER

Alan LoveALAN LOVE

Alan Love was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. Alan trained and worked as a photographer before commencing a legal career, firstly as a police officer, going on to qualify as an English Solicitor in 1993.

Alan is a very experienced English Solicitor having acted for corporate clients, organisations and individuals throughout the whole of the United Kingdom. Before moving to South West Scotland, Alan was a partner with a UK Top 100 law firm in the North East of England.

Alan is responsible for all aspects of management and development of the firm. In addition, he continues to practice law and provides advice to clients on matters involving English law.

Our Trust and Executry Manager in Newton Stewart,

Moira has been with the firm for over 25 years and has responsibility for Trust and Executry administration, Charities and Tax.

Alastair BruceALASTAIR BRUCE

Our Trust and Executry Manager in Girvan, Alastair obtained a Dip. Comm from Edinburgh College of Commerce and has been with the firm for 30 years.

Alastair has responsibility for Trust and Executry administration, Charities and Tax.

Linda IrvineLINDA IRVINE

Linda joined Smith & Valentine in 1981 and since returning in 1995 after a career break has been our law accountant responsible for the day-to-day running of our busy cashroom.

She is based in our Girvan office.

Christine McAdamCHRISTINE McADAM

Based in our Girvan office, Christine joined the firm in 1981.

She is Stewart Sheddon’s personal assistant and supports him across the broad spectrum of his work.

 

 

Emma InghamEMMA DAVIES

Emma joined McCormick & Nicholson in 2004 and in 2006 qualified as a conveyancing paralegal after graduating from the University of Strathclyde. As well as dealing with conveyancing matters Emma handles the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney.

Emma also obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agriculture from Harper Adams University College in 2000.

Jacinda RennieJACINDA RENNIE

Jacinda is a paralegal based in our Newton Stewart office. Jacinda joined us in 2006 and completed her paralegal qualification in 2009.

 

 

Kim McKenzieKIM McKENZIE

Kim graduated with an M.A. from Glasgow University in 1982 and obtained and HND in Administration in 2000 joining Smith & Valentine in that year. She deals with conveyancing and Executry administration and is presently undertaking a course in Executry and Trust Administration through the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners.

 

 

Marianne GrieveMARIANNE GRIEVE

Marianne qualified as a paralegal in 1999 and divides her time between the Girvan and Newton Stewart offices.

Marianne deals with a wide range of domestic and commercial conveyancing, domestic leasing and Executry administration.
